Spring is finally "springing." With daffodils, tulips, and snowdrops adding much-needed colour to the landscape, we are finally shaking off what felt like a particularly long, grey winter.
In a previous post, I explored the concept of seasonal living. As the wheel turns from winter to spring, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on what this transition means for our homes, our work, and our well-being.
Moving Beyond a Superficial Seasonal Shift
In our modern world, we often give only a superficial nod to the changing seasons, perhaps by swapping a heavy coat for a light jacket or dusting off the BBQ. But there is a deeper, more powerful way to embrace this change. True seasonal living means looking at how the environment influences our daily patterns, social lives, and even the way we approach our professional work.
Spring is the season of renewal.
It is a time for growth, fresh habits, and new ventures. The combination of lighter evenings, warmer days, and emerging blossom brings a natural surge of positivity and motivation. It is the ideal time to launch a project, refresh your routine, and step back into nature.
5 Ways to Move Into Spring
If you are ready to align your life with the energy of the season, here are five ideas to consider:
Refresh Your Menu Review what you eat and prioritise seasonal produce. I love taking this time to revisit recipes I haven't made in months as this adds immediate variety to the weekly dinners without much effort.
Take Your Workout Outdoors Now is the time to migrate your exercise routine. Consider moving your workouts out of the gym and into the fresh air. Whether it’s cycling, walking, or running, embrace the elements. The indoor treadmill can wait until autumn!
Curate Your Wardrobe It’s time to pack away the heavy woollies and bring out the lighter layers. (Though, let’s be honest: it’s not quite "shorts weather" yet, despite what the early birds think!) I find bringing my spring clothes down from the loft feels like a free shopping spree as I find items I have forgotten about.
De-clutter Your Space (Emotions and Mind) Lighten your home by clearing out the winter "weight." Swap the log baskets for fresh flowers and open the windows. If you need inspiration, I highly recommend Ingrid Pope’s book Uncluttered to explore a 5 step approach to not only physical but emotional and mental decluttering.
Seize a New Challenge Channel that springtime positivity into a new project. For me, this season is about growth: I am thrilled to be launching a new online course, offering breathwork sessions, and opening applications for my next mastermind cohort.
